Oz. That's the name on the street for the Oswald State Penitentiary, one of the roughest prisons in the Northeast. Oz is retro. Oz is retribution. You wanna punish a man? Separate him from his family. Separate him from himself, and put him in with his own kind.

And now things have gotten worse....the U.S. Army has taken over the prison and built a whole new unit in Oz. Emerald City, also known as Em City, a sick and bizarre social experiment in which both prisoners and kidnapped civilians of all walks of life are being detained and monitored in the Em City unit with more freedoms than the other prisoners in the main facility in exchange for more surveillance and interaction with detainees from both the women's prison and civilian detainees who have been duped into this horrific experiment.

The Army can't be everywhere and anywhere, so they do use prison staff such as administration, medical staff, and correctional officers to assist the soldiers in Em City. There are thirteen gangs in Em City, each of them trying to take a hold of rackets in the facility. These gangs are the Homeboys, the Wiseguys, the Aryans, the Muslims, the Bikers, the Latinos, the Gays, the Christians, the Irish, the Russians, the Triads, the Uchihas, and the Others.

This is the story of all the men and women detained in Em City, both guilty and innocent.

Welcome to Oz, specifically the military-controlled Emerald City unit. There are many gangs in Oz, and joining one can be key to your survival in here. There are many violent criminals in here, both from the main prison, the women's prison on the other side of the state, and innocent civilians being detained in the city for the purpose of the experiments.

Most of the gangs are divided by either race and ethnicity, social class, or outside criminal connections. The exception is the Others, which is not really a gang but a catch-all term for inmates and detainees in the facility with no gang affiliation.

Oz Gangs

The Homeboys
Led by Simon Adebisi

A primarily but not exclusively African-American gang, the Homeboys are one of the larger gangs in Oz's Emerald City unit. Known for being extremely violent in their protection of their businesses, the Homeboys are a major player in smuggling in contraband goods into the facility. Their main allies are the Irish and their enemies are the Wiseguys and Latinos. Their leader is Simon Adebisi, a feared gangster from the African nation of Nigeria, who was convicted of a very violent murder in 1997.

The Wiseguys
Led by Nino Schibetta

The Wiseguys, also known as the Sicilians, are one of the most powerful gangs in Oz. Many of them were in the Mafia before becoming imprisoned, and they are also known for using their outside underworld connections to bring drugs and other contraband items into Oz. They are competing heavily with the Homeboys for control of the contraband trade in Em City. Their main allies are the Uchihas and the Latinos, while their main enemies are the Homeboys and the Irish. Their leader is Nino Schibetta, a middle-aged man and a leader of the Italian Mafia on the outside. He was convicted of racketeering and conspiracy charges in 1995.

The Aryans
Led by Vern Schillinger

The Aryans are one of the fiercest and most brutal gangs in Oz. The Aryans are all sadistic and violent Neo-Nazis known for being violent, racist, and tough. They are opposed to the drug trade, which is arguably the only good trait of this horrific gang of scumbags. Curiously, they rarely feud with the Homeboys but instead are constantly fighting the Muslims. The Aryans have several guards on their payroll and have forged an alliance with the Bikers. Their leader, Vern Schillinger himself is one of the most feared inmates in the entire prison, convicted of beating a drug dealer to death with a baseball bat and having continued to commit more violent crimes within the prison's walls before being transferred to the Em City unit.

The Muslims
Led by Kareem Said

A sect of Sunni Muslims, the majority of them being of either African or Arab descent, the Muslims are one of the more peaceful gangs in Oz. They are opposed to the drug and contraband trade within Em City, but otherwise don't target other inmates. They do however fight back if attacked, and have feuds with the Aryans and the Homeboys. Their leader is Kareem Said, a Muslim Imam and political activist who set fire to a warehouse as a political statement in protest.

The Bikers
Led by Jaz Hoyt

Outlaw bikers who have all ended up in Oz's Em City, the Bikers are tough guys, but are also one of the smaller gangs in Em City. Because of their lack of heavy numbers, they have reluctantly allied with the Aryans, namely out of fear. Jaz Hoyt is their leader, a fierce biker lord convicted of beating up a clerk in a video store. He was the one who forged the alliance with the Aryans, but is reconsidering his choice, and is secretly in talks with the Russians about a new alliance.

The Latinos
Led by Miguel Alvarez

A Hispanic gang in Em City housing both criminals and civilians. The Latinos come from many backgrounds, whether they be Americans, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Cubans, or many other people from the Latin world. Originally a criminal gang within Oz called El Norte, the Latinos have begun to let innocent civilian detainees of Latino descent join the gang for protection from other inmates. Their leader is Miguel Alvarez, a Puerto Rican gangster known for being tough and cunning, but with a hidden soft side, especially concerning his incarcerated pregnant wife Maria, who was in the women's prison but has been transferred to Em City by the Army.

The Gays
Led by Alonzo Torquemada

A gang of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender inmates formed in response to how badly the LGBT residents of Oz were being treated by the other inmates, the Gays may not control much in terms of rackets but they have a sense of community and are willing to protect one another from people who would bring harm to them. Their leader is Alonzo Torquemada, a nightclub owner with many media connections on the outside convicted of horribly beating a man who owed him money.

The Christians
Led by Jeremiah Cloutier

A congregation of Christian inmates, the Christians are the most passive and least violent of all the gangs in Oz. Generally they are quiet and keep to themselves, avoiding conflict with other people as best they can, although the Bikers don't like them for some reason. The Christians do have an alliance with the Irish. Their leader is Reverend Jeremiah Cloutier, a Christian pastor who cares deeply for his flock and tries to resolve conflicts between other gangs peacefully.

The Irish
Led by Ryan O'Reily

The Irish are one of the smaller gangs in Oz, but they're brawlers and very tough. Driven by the schemes of their cunning and charismatic leader Ryan O'Reily, the Irish are a tough lot and you don't want to mess with them. They are allied with the Homeboys and the Christians, and are enemies with the Wiseguys, the Russians, and the Uchihas.

The Russians
Led by Nikolai Stanislavsky

A gang of powerful Russian mobsters, the Russians are one of the more secretive yet feared gangs in Oz. Their leader is an intelligent and clever gangster named Nikolai Stanislavsky, and they have recently struck an alliance with the Wiseguys. The Russians typically dislike the Irish and the Homeboys, and outright despise the Aryans, remembering the great sacrifices that the Russian Army gave to defeat the Nazis in World War II.

The Triads
Led by Jia Kenmin

A Chinese secret society that originated in Southern China during the Qing Dynasty of the 18th and 19th Centuries. The Triads have societies all over Asia and North America, and many of their incarcerated members ended up in Oz. The Triads have a very secret code of conduct and who knows what they are planning? Despite their origins as a criminal secret society, the Triads in Em City seem to be quiet and passive. Too quiet for most people's comfort. What could their leaders be planning?

The Uchihas
Led by Madara Uchiha

A wealthy and powerful clan of assassins, the Uchiha Family has largely been incarcerated by the federal government and placed in Oz's Em City unit. Known for their skills in espionage and assassination, the Uchihas have offered their services to the Wiseguys and the two gangs have forged an alliance.

The Others
No leader

A catch-all term for inmates and detainees who are not affiliated with a gang, the Others come from all walks of life. Some are prisoners who have been convicted of a crime, while others are innocent civilians who have been detained by the government.

Name: Charles "The Axe" Martin
Gender: Male
Appearance: Average height with little musculature underneath his skin tight clothing. Often wears thin close fitting outfits or conversely can be found wearing longer robe like clothing with many folds. Wears a scarf and/or bandana at all times.
Gang: The Others
Crime: Cyber crime, Grand Larceny, Beheading of several competitors in black market hacker rings. (Innocent?)
Bio: Misunderstood since his youth, Charles often has nefarious plots boiling in the back of his mind. Has an exceptionally high IQ, which was used to make a name for himself by assisting criminal organizations with things ranging from cyber warfare to hacking a bank vault to just passing along information. His position endows him with a large amount of information, and in this world, power is knowledge. After screwing over one too many people he was framed for the murder of one of his associates. They say that he beheads those who betray him. Although this may not be true, the reputation has served him well in the prison, not needing to join a gang for protection. He protects this secret fiercely.

He can usually be persuaded to pass information/threats to certain people both inside and outside of the prison.

Now he is in Em City with his fellow mobsters.

Though he has sworn off ecstasy completely, he still secretly enjoys alcohol every now and then.

I'll start the RP up then...

Emerald City Unit, Mid-Morning

Giovanni Romano
.
We had just got back from breakfast, the guards and soldiers escorting us back to the main hall of pods where we stayed in. My fellow paisan and I gathered around a card table by Nino's pod. I had always looked up to Nino Schibetta, him and his advisor Antonio Nappa were like fathers to me, and I was glad to serve them, even if it was in jail. My friends Joey D'Angelo, Dino Ortolani, and Ron Zanghi were busy playing poker when Antonio Nappa, the old and short man, turned to me and said "Listen, my friend, I have an issue. The Uchihas need help in taking care of some young Homeboy punk who has been disrespecting them. I think this could be a good job you could cut your teeth on. The dude's name is Kenny Wangler, skinny dude with short hair. Don't kill him, I don't want a full-blown war, just rough him up a bit. Just make sure that you're discreet, after all, you don't want the guards or soldiers cracking down on you."

I said "Alright, Mr. Nappa, I will do as you ask. Anybody I need to talk to first?"

Antonio said "Yes, talk to Itachi Uchiha, him and his cousin Sasha could always use some help, plus Itachi knows a bit about Wangler's routine. Maybe that could be useful."

Sasha

I look at my drug stash and it was getting low which means I need money so selling my body some time today, it was tough with the guards and soilders watching. Tell the truth I had some guards paying me to use me. Due to my slow growth and development I couldn't have kids so I had no worries there. I was sitting down by my uncle Ushiha when a guy walks up to us. I could tell he was from the wiseguys by the way he dressed, he sat down by us. I still owned them about $10 from the last drugs I got from them. " look I'll get you your money tomorrow i promise" I whispered not knowing he was here for another reason.

"There he go, don't let 'em get away!"
Emanuel rounded the corner quickly, hoping to lose his pursuit. Last he looked there were four of them chasing him.
One he might be able to take in a fight, maybe two if he got lucky, but four was suicide.
He glanced back for a moment in the hallway to see three figures chasing after him.
Three...?
Around the next corner the fourth appeared, earning him a blow that sent him sprawling.
He pushed himself to his feet as two pairs of hands hauled him to his feet.
"Think he a spy?" One of them commented.
"Ain no other reason a spic would be out here alone, he up to ****."
Emanuel paused to get his bearings, trying to get an idea of where his captors were taking him. He didn't have long to wonder before he was dragged into one of the communal bathrooms. Not one he frequented, either.
"*****, you gonna make this easy on yourself? You gonna talk, or do we have to convince you?"
One of the four hovered near the door to act as a lookout. Emanuel shook his head, only to see stars as his interrogator's fist connected with his head.
"You know the rule, spic, your kind ain't welcome here. So what you doin here? Who sent you on our turf?"
Emanuel shook his head again. "Accident..."
That much was true, he hadn't so much wandered as he'd been chased. And as far as he knew, Miguel wasn't about to start a war.
"I don't know anything, please...let me--"
Another punch threw off his train of thought.
"Spic, you know something. And if you won't talk, we got no reason to let you go without sending your kind a message.
The two holding him threw him against the wall.
"Suggest you stay down there, *****. Maybe we only give you a few broken bones."

Angelo narrowed his eyes as he passed down the hall. Some disturbance elsewhere had occupied the guards. Some cholo thug started a brawl with one of the nazis.
That much was planned.
He rounded the corner. For the Homeboys turf, it was almost too quiet.
Too fucking predictable.
He didn't particularly like coming here. He found even the nazi bastards to be more tolerable, and less trouble.
The lookout was facing the other way. Good. Made things simple.
He clenched his fist and dropped him with a punch to the back of the head, then pushed open the door.
"Fuckin spic probably just used to crossing borders without permission...Jerome, what--"
The three homeboys stopped when they saw him. He hadn't really bothered to learn the names of the peons, and therefore, had no damn clue who they were.
"The hell, cracker, it look like you got any business here?"
Angelo narrowed his eyes, then shoved past the three.
"You lookin for a fight cracker, hell, you asked for it."
Angelo spun, his fist connecting with the nearest one's throat. Without pausing, he grabbed the one he punched and pushed him into the next one.
He had a brief amount of time before the two disentangled. He turned to the third, who was sizing him up from afar.
He charged, delivering an uppercut to the boy's face, and a kick to the groin which left him rolling on the ground. He turned back to the other two. One had gotten back up, the other had hit his head a second time and remained down.
"You the ringleader of the fucking barnyard?" He snarled.
"Fucking excuse me, cracker? You know who you talkin to?"
"Listen here, monkeyfucker, you can get the **** out of here, or--"
"Fucking what, *****? The **** did you just call me?"
"Do I need to use simpler language that your underdeveloped brain can understand, or would repeating myself suffice?"
He lunged. Angelo dodged to the side, propelling his opponent's head into a wall.
He took a moment to secure the man's hands.
"You think you gon just--"
Angelo slammed the man's head into the wall a second time.
"The spic is mine. I catch one of you touching him again and there won't be enough of you left for the medical team to fix. They'll have to give you the michael jackson treatment and make you into a white woman. Am I clear, you fucking piece of ****?"
"If you don't--"
Angelo didn't let him finish, slamming his head into the wall again, this time, with a sickening crack.
"Wrong answer."
He turned and pulled Emanuel to his feet, dragging him after.

"I told you not to cross those halls. Damned if a fucking one of you could listen."
Emanuel shook his head. If Angelo had said anything before that, he was too disoriented to remember it.
"I was chased there. I didn't--"
"Shut your fucking mouth."
Angelo turned to push Emanuel against the wall. "You owe me for saving your fucking hide."
"I don't have anything..."
"Cash, goods, or service. You don't pay, and I'll **** you up and give you to Simon as a christmas present. I think I killed the last ******, anyway."
"No need for that, Angél."
"Good. See if Juanita got some cigarettes in, I want three. And don't get your fucking *** caught, I know that's why you're here."
"Of course, Angél."
He darted away. Angelo had no doubt that he'd return.
